GROUPS

From the most recent number I have we number 260 members (including approximately 40 Ladies). In the last couple of months I am aware of a couple leaving and also a couple of new members. In an attempt to give new members a clue as to which golfing clusters form and at what times, I suggest here a few outline groupings and their habits. If you wish to add enlightenment by changing some aspect or adding the characteristics of your particular assembly - please do.

The sWindle

Made up of men of a great mix of ages (18 to 70), golfing skills (scratch to 24) and an entertaining variety of 'professions' (Bankers to Bakers) they meet for a 09:25 draw every Saturday morning. From a list of 70 they'll typically muster over 2 dozen - no matter the weather! Subjected to a 'handicap system' that's been honed over the years (in an endeavour to stop those annoyingly clever 'category one' golfers scooping the lot), each pays his fiver to the pot and the best scores take the money. They are currently hosted afterwards at Ivinghoe Golf Club where prizes and commiserations are awarded. Click here to proceed to the 'dedicated sWindle Page'. Any new members wishing to be a part of this package are welcomed.

The SENIORS

This vibrant group meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings 'rolling up' at 09.20 for a draw (using named cards so be there early if it′s your first time!) - for tee times from 09.30. Although I believe the group is open only to men aged over 54 I have come to realise the name is a bit of misnomer - they by no means hold a monopoly on age or (perhaps) wisdom however they generally can be identified by their absence at the weekends and perhaps would be more aptly titled the mid-weekers? However, whatever the name they regularly have around 20 players, enjoy occasional fixtures with the Ladies and also manage a "Seniors Golf Society" which hold well attended events at various venues and include the welcome company of a few past members. Click here to proceed to the 'dedicated Seniors Page'. Again new members are welcomed.

The LADIES

There are over 40 Lady Golfers who tend also to divide themselves into weekday players and weekenders (entitled 'Business Ladies' I believe). They have also formed the STOCKS Ladies Golf Society (SLAGS!) which (similar to the Seniors G.S.) tends to join forces with ex-Stocks members to enjoy golfing events at STOCKS and elsewhere. If you would like to know more then I guess you should contact their current captain : Helen Medley. I haven't heard from her but you may! (Helen please tell me if you want an email link here).

The STOCKMANs

Time honoured venerable assembly of stockies who enjoy the odd away day together. mail JR to arrange a beer.
